A Re-Plant Church in 2025In 2025, Friends Chapel Baptist Church had a difficult decision to make. The membership had dwindled, and the Church was struggling. Rather than let such a wonderful building with such a rich history fade away - the existing membership took some action steps of faith. Partnering with Big Emory Baptist Association of Harriman, TN, they voted to re-plant a new church in their building. First Baptist Church of Wartburg and Mossy Grove Baptist Church are taking a leap of faith by "lending a helping hand" in order to see God move in this new work. In his parting business meeting, Rev. John Langley said, "I just want to see worship in this place again!" Amen Brother!

Our GoalThe three-part partnership between Big Emory Baptist Association, First Baptist Church of Wartburg, and Mossy Grove Baptist Church has one desire for the newly planted Shepherd Branch Baptist Church - to see God glorified in that community. We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is relevant and has life-changing power available to all who faithfully believe. We intend to be good partners financially and pastorally until this Church is standing with a solid pastor and a firm grip on their place in God's mission among their community and beyond.
|
Our BeliefsWe believe in the Holy Bible as the authoritative Word of God, and the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as a basis for our unity.
|
Our PartnersWe are Southern Baptists, and we have a belief in the importance of the Gospel going out to all nations - including the community of Chestnut Ridge and Deer Lodge. We believe Southern Baptist partnerships for missions are not only helpful logistically - but also God-honoring as we reflect the unity of the Church. To that end, we are partnered with other like-minded, missional churches in our area:
1. Big Emory Baptist Association - Headquartered in Harriman, TN with partnering churches from Roane County, Morgan Country, and several other churches in their general vicinity. 2. Tennessee Baptist Mission Board - Headquartered in Nashville, TN with partnering Southern Baptist Churches across the state of Tennessee. 3. Southern Baptist Convention - Southern Baptist churches across the nation and around the globe. |
